Fundraising for the “Because I am a Girl” Campaign Organized by Plan International HK
@Hong Kong | December 2016
My sister and I were writing our Christmas gifts “wish list” after dinner last week, then our mom asked us what could we “give” to the people in need in that Christmas instead? The next day, we received the newsletter from Plan International HK and learned about the “Because I am a Girl” campaign, which supports the youth-led, global movement for girls’ rights and gender equality. Across the world girls suffer injustices every day simply because they are young and female.
Then, my sister and I gave some thoughts and decided to make some nice pins, postcards, toys which we could sell to raise money for the “Because I am a Girl” campaign”. We shot a video and made some posters and asked our mom to send to our family and friends. The two of us raised HK$3200 at the end. 100% of the proceed was donated to “Because I am a Girl” campaign.
